Concessions & Vendors

Independent Midway, Commercial Exhibition Halls & Crafters Corner

FAIR HOURS: Grounds: open at 7am --- Midway: open at 1pm --- Buildings: open 12pm to 10pm

As fair vendors last year we saw a wonderful response to the 205th Edition of the oldest continuous agricultural fair in the nation.  With the worst of this pandemic behind us, there is no reason to not expect that this year, the 206th Edition of the Skowhegan State Fair, will not be better than ever! People are ready to get back to what they knew as normal. Given this, we believe we’ll see a tremendous turn out for this summer’s event.

Each year we have so many wonderful vendors who bring such a large variety of products, food & services to our grounds. Many of our vendors have websites or facebook pages. We would like to encourage you to visit their pages, shops, website and check out their products & services. Most of our vendors have trailers or tents and may be set up near you, check out their facebook pages for their next location.

Independent Midway

Independent Midway spaces are limited, and will be given on a first come first serve basis. Vendor spaces will be available after March 15 for NEW vendors! Submit your application today to be added to the new vendor que.

As fair vendors last year we saw a wonderful response to the 205th Edition of the Oldest Consecutively Running Agricultural Fair in the nation.  With the worst of this pandemic behind us, there is no reason to not expect that this year, the 206th Edition of the Skowhegan State Fair, will not be better than ever! People are ready to get back to what they knew as normal. Given this, I believe we’ll see a tremendous turn out for this summer’s event.

We look forward to meeting new vendors and reacquainting with some of our repeat vendors who have made the Skowhegan Fair a successful and trusted venue for years. Whether it is in one of our Halls, on the Independent Midway or on the Carnival Midway, we have locations that afford you exceptional visibility and foot traffic assuring you optimal opportunity to be successful!

Some changes to our midway are under way, and we’ll see some different attractions there as well! The fair is contracting with new entertainers this year, be on the look out for announcements on who will be attending soon. The fair has also added another truck pull on Wednesday. This with a second dollar day on Tuesday we will have a lot going on!

We were pleased to continue the Independent Midway; security will be provided on the grounds after the fair has shut down for the night. Concessions, games and exhibits make up a huge part of every fair and we are lucky to be able to provide our vendors an affordable alternative for renting space on the midway. We would like to grow the Independent Midway and fill our Halls with exceptional exhibits, vendors & concessions and you’re an important part of making that happen. We are looking forward to another successful year and would like to invite you to join us this August for 10 fabulous days, where we will work together to help more than 60,000 fairgoers enjoy the 206th Skowhegan State Fair.

Please find enclosed an application for vendor space and return the completed form no later than March 15 for returning vendors. Returning the application reserves the same location you previously held; if you would like a new location please make note of it and we will try our best to accommodate your request. With your help we can make the Skowhegan State Fair a memorable event for all!

Looking forward to seeing again you this August!

Sincerely,

Skowhegan State Fair

Letter to our Vendors - Please Read 🙂

Greetings fellow fairgoers!

I hope all of you are wintering well! It’s hard to believe that we sit about halfway from last year’s Skowhegan Fair, to this year’s upcoming edition. It won’t be long before we’re into black flies, dandelions and picking strawberries! Can’t come soon enough! We’ll all cross our fingers and hope for gorgeous weather and bountiful crowds for our 10 Fair days in Skowhegan.

We’re working on our part to assure success for all who take part. Last year the addition of some additional signage and new events in the Maple Building brought a healthy increase in traffic to that area. We are trying to incorporate those successes to the other halls as well. Midway Hall will see a bit of a facelift this year. We’re looking at some new activities in or around Constitution Hall as well.

The halls are already seeing interest from several new vendors. As you know I am also a vendor. My wife and I take part in several other fairs throughout the state. I never miss an opportunity to seek out new vendors in other fair’s exhibition halls. Always looking for something new and different. This is a great reason to get that paperwork back to us ASAP, as we will be reaching out to potential new vendors as well. Secure your spot!

All of our pricing remains the same this year as last. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself again with the rules of the halls as they are outlined in your paperwork. They will continue to be strictly enforced. Last year we did a mid -week truck pull. We will not do that again this year.

We DID add a music event in the grandstand on Sunday evening, sure to generate some excitement! Dollar Days return again, which is such a bonus for us vendors! We’ve got a full Midway and with your participation it will ensure that we have another very successful year!

I look forward to seeing you soon! Take a moment and secure your spot in the upcoming 206th Skowhegan State Fair! Any questions can be directed to Becky Turner at the fair office at 207-474-2947

Sincerely,

Mike Pelletier

Maine Maple & Commodities Building

View Toggles below for more information on exhibiting/vending at the Skowhegan State Fair.

Letter to our Commodities - Please Read 🙂

Dear Maple Building Commodity,

I hope you have been doing well this winter. For many of you in the Maple business your busy season is already upon you, I bet… Bees, Blueberries, Potatoes, etc aren’t too far off. My fair season is getting underway as well. You don’t think that February would be anytime for August fair business, but we are busy reaching out to new vendors and preparing for the upcoming season.

In an effort to comply with liability guidelines we have been advised to make some changes in regard to sub-letting spaces within our buildings/grounds. We have been diligently working on the best way to resolve this. We understand this will be a big change for you all and hope you will bear with us while we work out any kinks in the new process. We believe we have come up with a fair solution that will benefit everyone, reduce liability on those who were sub-letting and settle any problems with obtaining passes for the fair.

To start we will be adding the Maine Commodities to the Maple Building signage, our goal with this is to have a well-rounded Exhibit Hall to include Maple, Bees, Blueberries, Potatoes, and other Commodities produced in Maine. Because we are limiting this building to Maine Commodities only, we are able to offer reduced rates per space from what we would typically charge in our commercial vendor halls or the independent midway.

We have divided the maple building into 9 10×10 spaces with the Maple Evaporator in the center. Each 10×10’ space will be $150.00. Each space will come with 3 season passes with parking. Additional passes may be purchased at a reduced rate of $65.00 (regular rate $80). There will also be an electrical usage fee of $50 for those who require electrical needs beyond use for a fan, computer, etc. The electrical fee is charged per commodity not per space.

For example: 3 10×10 spaces will cost $450.00 and will come with 9 season passes. (that’s $150 per space plus 3 passes per space)

Please refer to the additional material included with this letter, as well as the new application for space in the Maple Building for clarification. We will work with each Maple Building Commodity to ensure they have the correct spaces they have previously held.

I hope that you can understand the need for the fair to make this correction. In the long run, from any liability standpoint, you are probably safer for this separation to occur. Due to possible liability issues, this change must happen for the Fair’s protection as well.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 207-399-6532, or Becki at the fair office, 207-474-2947.

I wish you good luck with this year’s commodities seasons and look forward to seeing you at the fair!

Sincerely,

Mike Pelletier
