Sponsorship & Advertising Opportunities
In 2022 we had over 5,000 entries in 34 departments, ranging from agricultural, arts, crafts, and flower exhibits; to cattle, goat, sheep, horse & poultry shows; also including livestock and tractor pulling and not to mention the 4-H shows and exhibits. Some join the competition just for the fun of it, while others compete for the premiums to help with the cost of raising their animals or to help with college funds; whatever the reason thousands of exhibitors flock to the fair every year with their friends and families, rain or shine to participate.
How do exhibitors know what to bring, when to arrive and where to go? Well they pick up a Premium Book at our office, at local businesses and stores or download the complete pdf file from our website. Every year we print between 300 and 500 books starting in mid-May, by the time the fair arrives 90% of the printed books are out in circulation with exhibitors thumbing through them regularly. The remaining books are passed out during the fair, to individuals who will be exhibiting later in the week and to potential exhibitors who are interested in entering the following year. These books are jam packed with information; everything one might need to enter in the competitions, plus pictures of the previous year events, contact information and the daily schedule; this really is a great tool for our exhibitors.
To help cover the costs of printing these books and to continue to offer them to exhibitors free of charge; we offer ad space at exceptional rates. While most publications only have ads placed at the beginning and the end, we insert ads throughout the entire book to insure maximum exposure for Skowhegan Fair advertisers and we complete our book with an index of advertisers. At this point we would like to extend an invitation for you to advertise in the 2023 Premium Book. According to early fair brochures, harness racing at the Skowhegan State Fair has been a well received feature since the late 1800’s. In those days harness racing was a popular sport and everyone from farmers to businessmen alike would boast about who had the fastest horse in the area. The same is true currently as harness racing enthusiasts come from all over the state to observe the seven days of racing held here at the Skowhegan State Fair. Many things in the harness racing world have changed over the years, such as the legalization of pari-mutuel betting, but the atmosphere is still the same and avid viewers still anticipate the moment when their favorite horse breaks free to claim the winning place. This harness racing program, that supplies people with the necessary information to place a wager, is made possible by the Skowhegan State Fair and sponsors. The sponsors of this program are crucial in making this program available to all. At this time we would like to extend an invitation for you to become a sponsor in this publication. In doing so, you will be helping provide a great service to the many viewers who rely on these programs.

The Skowhegan State Fair has a longstanding history with the community and part of the fair’s rich history is Standardbred Harness Racing. The Skowhegan State Fair is committed to putting on an exciting racing program, working with the Maine Harness Horsemen’s Association, Horsemen and the United States Trotting Association to ensure a great experience. There are many ways to join the harness racing family, and one specific way is through our Cooler Program.
Your donation to the Skowhegan State Fair’s Cooler Program ensures community awareness of your business and shows your support to the county fair.

- Announcement over P.A. system during blanket/bag presentation, please describe your business in 75 words or less in the space provided on page 2 of sponsor form.

A Maine tradition since 1818, the Skowhegan State Fair is the Nations Oldest Consecutively Running Agricultural Fair, celebrating 205 years in 2023.
